Kathmandu: India and Nepal are set to hold the Joint Working Group and Joint Steering Committee meetings on the issue of energy cooperation in Kathmandu this week, an official said Sunday.
The meetings would be held on July 14 and 15.
India's Power Secretary Pankaj Agarwal will lead the Indian delegation during the power secretary level meeting while the Nepalese delegation will be led by Secretary in the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources Sarita Dawadi, according to joint spokesperson Sandip Kumar Dev at the Nepalese ministry.
The Joint Working Group meeting will be attended by the joint secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation of Nepal and his counterpart at the Indian Ministry of Power while the Joint Steering Committee meeting will be attended by secretaries of the respective departments from the two countries.
The meetings will discuss various aspects of energy cooperation between Nepal and India, said the official.
Earlier, during External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s visit to the Himalayan nation in January, Nepal signed a long-term agreement for the export of 10,000 MW power to India, an MoU for cooperation in renewable energy, and jointly inaugurated three cross-border transmission lines.
